A charity is appealing to raise money for a powered wheelchair to help a four-year-old girl from Sheffield.

Zoe Robinson, from Crookes, has Cerebral Palsy and uses a manual wheelchair, but she requires an adult to help her move around at all times.

As local services do not provide the funding for powered wheelchairs, the family turned to Newlife Foundation for Disabled Children for help.

Zoe’s mum, Sarah Kettlewell said: “A powered wheelchair will not only help Zoe at home and at school but whenever we are out and about she is restricted by the types of surfaces her manual wheelchair can go on as well as how far we can go.

“It’s sad to have to say to your child we can’t do this or go there – it just increases the segregation.”

A new wheelchair costs £6,218 and the charity is asking for donations to raise funds.
